ESG

At Esparity Solar we endeavour to improve daily in order to exercise the measures of the highest standard that favour environmental, social and corporate governance benefits.

Environment

Strong commitment to environmental criteria

How Esparity Solar mitigates climate change

  • By developing and promoting photovoltaic plants, encouraging the implementation of renewable solar energy in the electricity production system, achieving the global targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. (NCIEC 2021-2030)
  • Reducing carbon footprints by hiring local staff, reducing emissions from travel and reducing the use of concrete.
  • Offsetting emissions through photovoltaic energy self-consumption.

Protecting biodiversity

  • Safeguarding biodiversity in the areas where the installations are carried out and establishing collaborations with institutions, associations and groups that work to protect local species.
  • Using fences that favour the passage of fauna and using reflective signage.
  • We encourage planting and growth of vegetation.
  • Minimising the impact on the natural habitat of animal and insect species.
Less Visual Impact

Solar farms with less landscape and less visual impact

  • Considering the topography of the area to locate the installation of photovoltaic plants to reduce visual and landscape impact.
  • Optimising the layout of electric lines to reduce their impact.
Efficient use of water

Efficient use of water

Our aim is to maximise efficiency in the use of water, prioritise the use of recycled water and respect existing watercourses, paying special attention to areas of Public Hydraulic Domain.

Committed to R&D

We are committed to working with universities and scientific centres that carry out research to improve the integration of facilities into the environment.

Circular Economy

Waste management and the Circular Economy

We carry waste management studies and implement their conclusions, thus increasing reuse and recycling, complying with the objectives of the Circular Economy

Caring for soil

Caring for soil

  • Favouring locations to the centres of energy demand with low agricultural and environmental value.
  • Locating solar farms closer to centres of electricity demand and building fewer electricity lines.
  • Respecting the natural formation of the vegetation: maintaining distance of the modules, prohibiting the use of herbicides, promoting animal grazing, farming, agriculture and beekeeping
  • Use of existing paths, taking advantage of the project’s boundaries of the plot, and restoring areas that may have been affected.
  • Using less concrete. Solar trackers are used instead of fixed structures, avoiding foundations and increasing the energy efficiency of the installation.
  • Returning the land to its original state at the end of the installation’s life span.
  • Reduce earth movements.

Social

Esparity is committed to Social Criteria

Social Responsibility

Commitment to the social aspect of the projects

  • Creating local jobs in plant construction and operation.
  • Prioritising the contracting of goods and services according to the distance to the plant.
  • School visits, awareness and training days.

Governance

Esparity’s stance on Corporate Governance

  • Responsible decision making with overall strategic direction and corporate policies: investments, mergers and acquisitions, executive appointments, succession planning.
  • Outlining a control mechanism for performance of executive management and the implementation of the approved strategic plan.
  • Compliance: the establishment of appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that the company, its management, employees and third parties comply with the applicable regulatory framework.
